Stroke - high rates of dehydration

Dehydration is a common but not well emphasized entity in case of strokes. Many of the patients are unable to drink independently because of:
1) difficulty in swallowing,
2) limb weakness (both upper and lower limbs),
3) inability to communicate and
4) confused state.

Therefore, look out for clinical signs of dehydration, monitor the input and output charting properly and adjust accordingly.
